If you are unwilling or unable to complete the online registration, please call 804-545-3949 or email info@drivewiseusa.com as soon as possible to secure your spot. We cannot guarantee that we will have entries available that day if you do not pre-register or contact us to save a spot.

Entries Still Available for June 25

May 24th, 2011

Entries are still available for either the morning or the afternoon schools at Richmond Raceway Complex on Saturday June 25. Spaces are limited so the car counts are low (which means everyone will get maximum “seat time” during the exercises) and the longer you wait to register, the more these schools cost. So please join us for a day of education and fun! The skills you gain by doing one of these schools will be with you every time you get behind the wheel – and you hope you never need to use the skills, but when you do, you will be thankful! “Safely avoiding that opossum instead of swerving into a ditch was just like we practiced in that parking lot with driveWISE.”

June 25-26 Schools: Registration Opens March 25

March 16th, 2011

Discounted advance registration for the driveWISE Accident Avoidance Schools outside Richmond International Raceway on Saturday & Sunday June 25-26, 2011 will open at 12:01am Friday March 25. Pricing will be structured so the earlier you register, the greater the discount will be. There will be four identical half-day schools to choose from, so (for instance) those who live in town can do a morning school and still have the afternoon for other activities, or those coming from out of town can do an afternoon school and make a day trip of it.

Registration for all our 2011 Accident Avoidance Schools will take place through the National Auto Sport Association’s main website. NASA is this country’s fastest growing and most progressive high performance driver education & sports car race sanctioning body, and they are in full support of our program. Summer ’11 Accident Avoidance Schools Announced

March 3rd, 2011

driveWISE, a Virginia-based driver education company since 2006, is proud to announce a series of eight Accident Avoidance Schools at Richmond International Raceway this summer. These schools will be held on the weekends of June 25-26 and September 24-25, 2011 in a parking lot at the Richmond Raceway Complex on Laburnum Avenue and are open to all licensed drivers in nearly any street legal vehicle. This series is made possible by McGeorge Toyota, the National Auto Sport Association, and Evolution Performance Driving School.

Unlike state-mandated driver improvement clinics which only involve classroom lectures, driveWISE Accident Avoidance Schools focus on time behind the wheel. Students will participate in low-speed blacktop exercises, such as a panic stop or emergency lane change, all with professional high performance driving instructors riding along, and each with group discussions in between.

“We teach specifically for the moment that everyone dreads, like when a deer runs across the road and stops in front of you.” said driveWISE Chief Instructor Mike Junior Johnson. “We safely recreate those situations with traffic cones in a parking lot because the driving principles and physics are exactly the same. We want our students to know how to react when the time comes, because we believe that all accidents are avoidable if proper car control is taught and practiced.”

Although driveWISE Accident Avoidance Schools are geared toward teenagers and other new drivers, everyone is welcome regardless of age or experience level. Parents are encouraged to participate as well. Entry fees start at $75 per student per half-day phase, spaces are very limited, and pre-registration is required.

“These schools are great for the community, and we at McGeorge Toyota are proud to be involved. It’s a lot of fun, and it makes our roads safer one driver at a time, which is a win-win situation for everyone.” said Rod McGeorge.

New for 2011…

February 15th, 2011

Hello and welcome to driveWISE v2011! We are back – bigger and better than ever. The upcoming season would not be possible without major support from our friends at McGeorge Toyota, Evolution Performance Driving School, and the Mid-Atlantic Region of the National Auto Sport Assocation – so huge thanks to them.

We are actively recruiting additional sponsors, marketing partners, volunteer staff, and event sites. If you can help with any of these things, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We hope you enjoy our new website and please come back for much more info next month!
